Leona the Chinese Crested: Why don’t I fit in?

Dear Paws to Talk,

I am a young Chinese Crested female. When I walk in the park, I notice the group of girl dogs in my neighborhood shun me. After I have walked by, they make comments about how ugly they think I am.

I admit that I have only a few patches of hair and my spotted skin is exposed for the world to see. However, I think I have a cute face and figure.  Are they ignoring me because I am ugly? Will I ever fit in?

Howl Leona,

I am glad you wrote in because I think I can help you. Please don’t feel bad if you don’t fit in with all the other girls.  You can’t change your breed. In fact, you should be proud that you have unique features.

I am sure the other females just don’t know what to make of you, which is why they make comments. Creatures can be cruel sometimes. Also, a lot of times canines will talk about other breeds to take the attention off of themselves.  This is their problem and has nothing to do with you.

I suggest that you try to enjoy your look. Fix your hair patches to make sure they are neat and spunky. Walk down the street or in the park and hold your head up high because you are special. Remember that the next time you go for a walk.

You don’t want to spend time with a pack of females who are insecure. Open your eyes and look for canines who have more substance. Spend your time with them.  You don’t have to ever fit in with the right friends. They will love you just the way you are.

Woof,

Bella

  1. Leona you are definitely very unique and beautiful. You can never change how you look and it shouldn’t ever matter, what really counts is that you are beautiful on the inside! 🙂
